One of my favorite things to do is to sit on my front sidewalk amongst the Catmint plants (c’mon, don’t judge) and watch the bees jump from bloom to bloom. It is my own form of meditation.
Here is a sample of my happy place:
Trying to capture the quick moving bees on camera is a challenge but one I am always trying to perfect:
I’m getting there but I can do better.

Beeeeee-utiful!!
I’m all abuzz about this post!!!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
So glad to know I’m not the only weirdo who stalks bees!!! I admire their intensity and single-mindedness.

I love bees and am lucky enough to have bumble bees using my garden to nest. Sadly there don’t seem to be that many this year for me to capture on camera. Take care. Chel
You’re doing MUCH better than I have in capturing the bees on camera. The few occasions in which I’ve managed a non-fuzzy photo have been complete flukes.
Beautiful photos, John! If you get a chance, you should see the documentary “More Than Honey”, about the decline of bees and the impact on humans. Wonderful film with beautiful photography. I enjoy your blog, even though I rarely comment!
One of my favorite things too… my kids call my garden path “Bee Alley.”
This is one of the reasons weeds don’t take over my garden. I “justify” sitting in the garden, watching the insects, by weeding at the same time. Bliss.
The pics are gorgeous! I’ve been justifying my overabundance of nepeta with the fact that the bees love it and I’m glad they have a happy place to go to.
this post and video made me teary eyed for my former cold zone. midwest gardens are where it’s at.
