If you do not like ornamental grasses, it is OK to leave now.
Go on … get outta here.
Are they gone? …. good riddance.
Let’s proceed, shall we?
It’s sort of like Christmas Eve out in the garden right now with the OG blooms about ready to show themselves:
Miscanthus ‘Gracillimus’ |
Miscanthus ‘Variegatus’ |
Miscanthus ‘Morning Light’ |
Want to know how I know that my lust for ornamental grasses is off the charts? I can capture three blooming grasses in one photo:
Misacanthus ‘Gracillimus’, Calamagrostis ‘Eldorado’ and Miscanthuis ‘Purpurascens’ |
This is the second year for my Miscanthus ‘Purpurascens’ and so far, color me impressed:
The seed heads on my two different Chasmanthium latifolium (Northern Sea Oats) have matured nicely:
Northern Sea Oats |
Northern Sea Oats ‘River Mist’ |
You can count on an overwhelming amount of coverage on all things ornamental grasses over the next few weeks so brace yourself.
John
I’m ready…
Bring them on…
Love grasses…
I thought the Miscanthus Variegatus was called Porcupine Grass…I have one in my garden…
Check it out, John…hahaha
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Interesting that ‘River Mist’ is getting red in the fall. Nice collection of grasses. Calamagrostis doesn’t do really well here, have both ‘Overdam’ and ‘El Dorado’…..will give them a couple more years to see if they just need to get established.
I am wondering how we ever did without grasses in our gardens. They add so much especially this time of year. I just need to find some more room!
Eileen
More grasses please. Have just added Miscanthus ‘Adagio’ to my grow list. It’s a compact dwarf variety.cheers Ian
And people think grass is just for cutting – lol You have a nice collection going. Motivates me to add more to my garden!!
There are people who don’t like ornamental grasses?????
I LOVE the northern sea oats photo!
This week I spied some growth at the base of the miscanthus I planted last year, I hope it’s not just a sneaky weed.
I think ornamental grasses are beautiful. Maybe some people don’t like them because of the connotation that goes along with the word “grass”. They’re probably thinking cow food or something. Anyway, your pics are beautiful as always 🙂
