So it was a no-brainer to leave the kids at home for the day so my wife and I could do some serious wine tasting. And we rocked it.
While it was an overcast and foggy day (and we expected as much), the scenery at the wineries was as fantastic as the Pinot:
I think my personal favorite was David Hill Winery where the tasting was held in an old farmhouse and our hosts could not have been more down to earth and gracious:
We even shared a New Jersey connection with one of the women which lead to some interesting conversation.
We did not make any purchases (which can be difficult to resist when you’ve been drinking) considering the effort to bring the wine home on the plane, but will be sure to order on-line now that wine can be shipped directly to New Jersey.
Good times were had by all. More on our trip tomorrow when I’m capable of writing coherently.
John
Welcome home! So glad you enjoyed your trip to our area of the country. You got some beautiful fall photos.
Thank you for blogging us along on your travels beautiful country <|;-) Annie
It looks like it would have been a wonderful day. The scenery is wonderful to see. Thanks for sharing your day.
When I began reading your post my first thought was, oh some great wines come out of that area. But, alas, you already know and I don’t get to show how incredibly knowledgeable I am about wines….ha!ha!ha! The pictures are absolutely gorgeous. The mist in the distance…breathtaking.
Alison – thanks for the props and it is good to be home!
Annie – My pleasure to share with you! And thank you again for all your shares on Twitter.
L.D. – the scenery was phenomenal, almost overwhelming at times. More to come.
Bonnie – I could go on and on about the wines. The pinot noir is off the charts. I am mostly a red guy so can’t comment too much on the whites but I’m sure they are phenom too.
the pictures are gorgeous, with the fog!! sounds like a good time!!
Can you just imagine what you could grow in the Willamette Valley? I can’t wait to move back next year. Great pics, you captured some of the incredible fall color we have had this year!
How beautiful!
Your photos ROCK! The color is gorgeous!
Wine tasting excursions are the best! When Don and I went wine tasting in California in ’82 we just packed most of the wine in our suitcases. We figured when we were waiting for our luggage at the carousel, if ours went by wet and reeking of alcohol we’d just leave it there and go home. Happily all bottles arrived safe and sound!
