With the busy Memorial Day weekend, there wasn’t a lot of time to get up close and personal and catch up with my plant family. I had a chance to reconnect this morning and here is what I found:
All of the Itea ‘Henry’s Garnet’ are in full bloom:
The Spirea ‘Snow Storm’ bloom has peaked and has started the inevitable decline:
To say the Physocarpus (Ninebark) ‘Summer Wine’ is “in bloom” is a slight understatement:
All of the Spirea ‘Goldmound’ look better than they ever have before. Must be my mad skills or maybe it just took time to get established. Yeah, it’s the latter.
I feel like I owe all of you an apology. I did an entire post dedicated to Sedum ‘Red Carpet’ indicating how much I liked the fact that the red foliage stood out and worked well with yellow foliage. Well, the “red” foliage has disappeared and has been replaced with a greenish/red color. The before and after below:
I love my Yucca ‘Golden Sword’ but don’t think I’m a big fan of the bloom. We’ll see soon enough:
The first bloom on the Geranium ‘Brookside’, the hot mess is not far behind:
My vow to stay on top of all pruning duties is off to a good start. I cut back the Iberis (Candytuft) immediately after blooming like a good gardener should:
The foliage on the Eupatorium (Joe Pye Weed) ‘Chocolate’ looks magically delicious:
Digging the catkins on the Betula Nigra (River Birch) trees:
And finally, the blooms of the Campanula ‘Joan Elliot’ and Peony ‘Bowl of Beauty’ keep on keeping on:
ONG,
The photo of the Ninebark Summer Wine is gorgeous! I just put in three of them along the front side of my house. Do you cut them back after they bloom?
Eileen
and you are a happy, happy man, i can tell…
wow…you’ve got stuff happining all over the garden…..
love the peony, with the hint of light…
pure joy!!!!
Looking awesome.
Great photos of garden happenings. Love the peony.
Dzieje się, oj dzieje ładnie w Twoim ogrodzie. Mnie chyba Golden Sword nie zakwitnie w tym roku 🙁 . Pozdrawiam
Ninebarks are fantastic! All your blooms are great. Looks like Henry’s Garnet is thriving! I love its red fall color.
That peony looks great…I’m still waiting for my first bloom
Wonderful photos! 🙂
I am so glad you are a neurotic gardner and you do not have to love parades. Your photos are so beautiful, and I am learning more names of plants. Will be back sooner than you think.
Very nice. I divided the Virginia Sweetspire last winter, it bloomed this spring although I’ll be glad when it looks like yours. The Summer Wine is having a big time isn’t it? I’m not impressed with Yucca blooms either…the last to flower captures are beautiful.
Loved all your flowers, especially the Peony ‘Bowl of Beauty’ and the ‘Summer Wine’ bush. If your Yucca has the same bloom as mine, you should love it!
Truly stunning I enjoy my daily virtual walks in your garden : )
What beautiful foliage plants you have in your garden and such great blooms this spring. Your Spirea is just so pretty. I just love your Ninebark though. How gorgeous. I just have to find a spot for one in my garden.
Hey, thanks for your comment about the Lilac pic. I always seem to forget to look up your blog, though I always enjoy it, so when you visited it sparked my memory. Love all of the plants you have going on right now and funny thing is – a friend of mine just shared a perennial with me, one that I had admired in her garden, and she didn’t know the name and neither did I, and lo and behold, I come here and see it in your pictures – Sedum. I’ll have to look it up as I wasn’t familiar with it until now but I love the leaves on it. Mine right now is simply green and growing.
wait. a guy who gardens. and likes it. they obviously broke the mold after you were born 🙂
Very nice, thanks for sharing! I have alot of the same plants. Peonies still in bud here in Ut. Can’t wait for them to bloom!
These are incredible…
Magnificent showcase of the garden’s progress! Gardening enthusiasts will be greatly inspired by this. The incredible time and effort given to the plants and the entire garden are indeed very commendable!
cool, you have a beautiful garden, thanks a lot for the pictures, i have a little one but is kind of hard to make it beautiful because i don’t have to much time, thanks
There are some nice flowers out there. I think that it is nice that you are introducing them to us. I will show my mom this post because she is looking to improve their garden.
